Dian Yu was born in Shanghai, China. Her studies include an MFA degree in Jewelry from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015 and a BA degree in Graphic Design from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2011. Her work has been shown in the regional exhibitions, “Current” and the SCAD Style Trunk Show and participated in trade shows nationally, including the Philadelphia Museum of Art Contemporary Craft Show and the Atlanta Jewelry Show. Her educational background synthesized 2-D and 3-D design thinking creating work which is a thoughtful combination of line, for color and materials. While her current work embraces traditional hand skills, her design philosophy allows idea visualization through technology and craft to coexist. Her concepts are formulated for a variety of outputs from installation to salable products.
